The collection is comprised of full length tights and thigh high stockings in a variety of prints and textures inspired by New York. That translates to leopard print, pinstripes, polka dots, and fishnets. Which is actually a pretty accurate representation of the textures and patterns you’ll see around the city, but the collection may have done a little better with a slightly later release date.

The price is reasonable – $15 to $24 each, but they land in department stores in August. Considering the heat blanketing most of the country, we’re pretty sure tights and traditional hosiery are going to be the last thing on the mind of most shoppers if the triple digit temperatures stick around.

According to TV Line’s sources, both actresses have been invited back on a guest star basis, but will anyone miss them? Szhor will likely have the most incentive to reprise her role on the show, which seems to serve in large part as a vehicle for its female stars to land fashion endorsements. In addition to the lack of screentime this season Momsen has been dropped as the face of Madonna’s Material Girl clothing line, dropped from IMG’s roster and had a brief moment as the face of a Galliano perfume, but LVMH has been dropping everything Galliano like it’s hot so safe to say the fashion “it” girl ship has sailed there. At least she has that angsty rocker thing to fall back on.

Szhor, who’s been popping up at more and more fashion events (including the MET Costume Institute Gala in the sparkly pipe cleaner look above that barely escaped our list of WTF? moments), has been taking full advantage of the endorsement opportunities for a while now though, so  we’re pretty sure she’ll be more ambitious about continuing on as part of the cast in some way.

The face of the brand has remained hush hush until now. All we knew was that a young Hollywood starlet, who lives and breathes the essence of edgy was in Madonna’s sights. The ads are finished and courtesy of Macy’s it’s confirmed that Gossip Girl star Taylor Momsen is the face of the ‘Material Girl’ ad campaign. {Stylelist} No word yet on if this means underwear and stripper heels will be involved in the line.

Even though she’s moved on to Dolce & Gabbana, we love that Madonna’s not afraid to look back on her younger style. Her daughter Lourdes, who collaborates on the collection has, over the years, may be heavily influenced by old pictures (we’re betting that’s a family photo album a lot more exciting than ours), but has honed her own unique rocker fashion sense as well. In this case, a little fashion nepotism may not be so bad.

Fear not, because Ed Westwick is not leaving Gossip Girl – at least not anytime soon. Confirmed for season 4, the fictitious Upper East Siders (Chuck included) will be filming scenes in Paris for the September season premiere. With a shoutout to our favorite macaron maker, we’ll keep an eye on Pierre Herme’s stores (research people, research) for cast spottings.

According to one of the show’s producers, viewers shouldn’t “rule out flashbacks. And weâ€ve been visited by ghosts before.” {Ausiello Files/EW} And besides the fact that we’ve had the Chuck dying cliffhanger before (he made it), would anyone still tune in without the other half to our favorite scheming duo?

But don’t worry — we’re not media zombies in the Twilight Zone just yet.

Faithful TV viewers lately are taking their style cues from shows like Gossip Girl and Mad Men, which have helped to democratize fashion by showing how “real people” can wear clothes.  Viewers are certainly aware of the fact that these characters aren’t real, but by relating clothing to palpable personalities rather than abstract circumstances like runway shows, they are more likely to understand how certain styles can work in their own lives.

Of course we don’t think you should go out and try to dress 100% like Blair or Serena, because personal style should never be a carbon copy of someone else.  Instead, use TV fashion as a set of guidelines — and a source of inspiration — that helps you develop your own look.
