It’s official, for Spring 2011 white is the new black. Natural tones are the way to go year and the sensible and classy looks we saw strutting the runways at Mercedes-Benz Fashion week showcased just how red hot head-to-toe white can be.

The photos above are of nine different white looks from designers’ SS11 presentations and shows at Lincoln Center in Manhattan for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. This past week has flown by and the shows are getting great reviews. Clearly white is in for both men (at Lacoste) and women (at nearly every other show) next year as the crisp, clean shade is seen repeatedly on the catwalk.

We are intrigued by the range in proportion, drape and silhouette throughout the collections and the diversity in fabric and detail make for a really classically-dressed season.

Just some of the designers offering head-to-toe white ensembles in their Spring/Summer 2011 collections include Victoria Beckham, BCBG Max Azria, Doo-Ri, Christian Siriano, Frank Tell, Jen Kao, Calvin Klein, Julian Louie, Nicole Miller, Mandy Coon, Peter Som, Rag & Bone, Band of Outsiders, Jill Stuart, Lacoste, Rebecca Minkoff, Ports 1961, Prabal Gurung and Derek Lam.

“The Lacoste fashion jewelry is part of the strategy developed with our partners to propose a more complete feminine offer to our clients,” CEO Christophe Chenut says in a recent press release. “This new license confirms our willingness to increase our share among women to accompany the apparel and leather goods development.” {Stylelist}

Smart move. Scheduled to launch at the brand’s Spring fashion show, the lineup is said to include bracelets, necklaces, bags and cell phone cases. All things to make any existing fan happy, and the makings of a more complete shopping experience for the customer already dedicated to the brand. If the bright color combinations from the Fall collection are anything to go by, there might be some pretty unique tennis bracelets on the horizon.

Also buzzing is the new accessory line Lacoste plans to introduce to compliment their sporty collection. They are following in the footsteps of many luxury brands that are expanding into the accessory market. With clothing sales down, accessories can be a  label’s recessionary best friend.

The sneaker collaborations keep rolling in, with Married to the MOB x Lacoste being the latest.  The drop features the lace-embellished Hironia high-top sneaker, which was apparently inspired by Christian Louboutin’s lacy shoe confections for the ladies.

Now we’re all for gender neutrality, yet we’re having trouble envisioning the demographic that the MOB x Lacoste collab is supposed to pinpoint.  There’s nothing wrong with boys wearing whatever they want — including lace — but we can’t help thinking that the Hironia is completely missing the mark and will sit on shelves much longer than either party would like. Update: we typed too quickly. Married to the Mob and Lacoste’s Louboutin influenced mashup is for the girls. Targeting questions answered, we’re sure these will find their way into the closets of a few active fashionistas who love the look of the red-soled heels, but can’t resign themselves to actually running around town in them.
