Swarovski has commissioned designers to create menswear pieces with one central theme in mind: diamonds. Now we know some men are thinking this is crazy, but take a look at the still-hip designs they came up with. The goal was to prove that diamond-embellished menswear “can work in a commercial context and not just as statement pieces on a runway,” Swarovski’s senior VP of marketing, Markus D. Lampe, told WWD. The line shows a strong comparison to the theatrics of womens wear usually seen on the runway. It may not be the biggest hit with the guys, but we think it is inspiring to menswear, especially in tough economic times when bold and out-of-this-world fashion statements usually take a backseat.
