Bejeweled: Fashion Under $100

After the prominence of pastels and neons this summer, this fall season brings rich, jewel tones back to the front of our wardrobes. But unlike the jewel tones of falls past, this season’s colors combine the richness of fall colors with the brightness of summer’s neons. The results are bright jewel colors that can weather the seasons (pardon the pun) due to their ability to pop nicely against black while maintaining the depth of a traditional jewel color.

Black or white really accentuate the ingenuity of the colors, though beige – the neutral seen on more than a few runways, offers a fresh, unexpected take. Look for simple cuts that are figure-flattering and have an interesting design detail, like cutouts or ruffles. Layered under a blazer and over tights, the look becomes work appropriate, while some sparkly jewelry will make the transition from work to evening painless.
