Cage-like cutouts tend to end up on evening dresses paired with high shine fabrics and embellishment; but plain, grid cut eyelet fabric makes the look work as a less formal interpretation. The texture makes it an option that’s interesting enough to not become a basic (in the boring, bland sense of the word) piece, while maintaining the […]
Thakoon Bird Print Sheath Dress, $1390 Flora, fauna and the feathered have always gotten along well in nature, so it’s no surprise that they’re also a frequent combination in fashion. We like Thakoon’s bird print black dress for the graphic balance that lets the birds take center stage (literally), without becoming overwhelming. Front and back […]
Pair a fit and flare classic black with bold red and magenta accessories for a style that’s modern classic, and anything but basic.
Taffeta! Ruffles! Satin! That’s right, prom is around the corner for millions of American teens. If you’re shopping for one, or just want a cocktail dress that lets you relive the excitement vicariously, we have you covered. We’ll be taking on affordable prom dresses and dream prom dresses in separate posts, but we kick things off with a little black dress that will continue to work for college cocktails and other events past that one special night. At $300 (originally $750), this Notte by Marchesa dress may still take a little bit of saving, but trust us when we say that Facebook photo tagging has made a prom dress that won’t be a point of embarrassment at your 10-year reunion truly priceless.
In our last little black dress installment, we kept things safe for work with flashes of color of the season coral/honeysuckle. When we saw this DSquared² maxi dress though, we couldn’t resist going a bit sexier.
A great black dress can always be a seasonless staple, but for spring and summer, it’s especially nice to go for a version that’s less structured with more movement. We love the addition of pink or coral accessories to give more pop to a piece that’s fluid enough to move between the office and after work dinner and drinks.
With the summer, comes the beach. And with the beach comes the dilemma of finding a cover up that doesn’t look like a cover up. Let’s face it, most swimwear cover ups are not very versatile or flattering. Luckily, we’ve got a dress that can take you to the beach, then the supermarket, and that evening concert in the park.
Like her famous wrap dress, Diane von Furstenberg’s black shirtdress is classic enough to become a staple beyond seasons. Effortlessly feminine, this week’s little black dress is an easy choice for something casual but collected. When warmer weather finally arrives, this is the perfect dress to bring out for relaxed office dress codes or a […]
The little black dress is a popular staple first and foremost for versatility. Nothing is more versatile than a dress that goes easily from day to night with the change of a jacket, or switch of a shoe. This week’s little black dress is an asymmetrical, knit number with plenty of forgiving draping, and best […]
