While last season’s show remained elegant and subdued, this season Karl went all out with Halloween worthy decorations, live music and a spectacular collection. The hay covered aisles and floors, and even the benches, were covered with sleeves of distressed brown jute, stamped with double ‘C’s. The models popped out of haystacks after the sound of a rooster crow, and while Heidi Mount opened the show, Lily Allen, the face of Chanel’s new handbag collection, gave a stellar performance to provide the collection with an upbeat soundtrack. While the runway was not so traditional, the classic Chanel style was evident in the stunning threads that sashayed down the runway. They looked almost Victorian with swathes of gauze and big collars, with hints of a rocker edge that is synonymous with the Karl Lagerfeld name.
