Does a Naked Adam Levine Actually Raise Anything Besides Temperatures?

As part of a campaign to raise awareness of prostate and testicular cancer, Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine stripped down to his tattoos (save for a pair of strategically placed hands) for Cosmopolitan UK. Perhaps this will inspire an increase in aspiring hand models, but will the stunt actually raise awareness of anything besides the fact that Adam Levine looks good naked?

Don’t get us wrong, we’re not opposed to guy candy in any way, shape or form. Plus, we’re well aware that campaigns with a sexy wink and nod can spark conversations on serious topics, yet we’re not 100% sure about this one. For starters, how many Cosmo readers have prostates or testicles anyway? Then there’s the matter of how much awareness via potential partners could help anyway. Though a mammogram is the best way to detect breast cancer, women doing self exams have sometimes caught potential tumors, and it’s not outside the realm of possibility that a partner might be able to catch something amiss while getting intimate.

While guys can do testicular self-exams, the warning signs aren’t always outwardly visible, and it’s probably not all that likely that a partner would notice something amiss if they weren’t looking for it. As far as prostate cancer, the actual exam to screen for that is pretty difficult to replicate on a self-provided basis and we’ll venture that the vast majority of guys wouldn’t want to incorporate prostate exams into their sex lives.

We’ll bite, and take the opportunity to remind any guys reading to get screened for prostate and testicular cancer. Ladies, we’ll remind you to remind the guys in your life to get screened for prostate and testicular cancer.

And finally, we’ll remind everyone that nudity for a cause isn’t necessarily a bad thing, even if you don’t always remember the cause. If you missed the photo that sparked this post, enjoy the guy candy.
