Express Turns 30, Wall Street Gets the Birthday Present

Attention all Wall Streeters! Did the Fashion Meets Finance thing not work out for you? No worries, because Express, the perennial mall brand, is sending models directly to your day job. In celebration of their 30th Anniversary, Express is giving Wall Street quite a show – a fashion show that is.

Scheduled for lunchtime today, Express has taken a page from former sister company Victoria’s Secret and rounded up their finest models to work the catwalk after ringing the opening bell at 9:30 am.

The fun doesn’t stop there, as the models will stick around post-show to give away gift cards with prizes of up to $75. {Modelinia}

And if you want more (of course you want more), try to grab one of the brand’s representatives to network for an invite to the company’s upcoming Vogue hosted party. Next Thursday, Ed Westwick/Chuck Bass, Caroline Trentini and Chanel Iman will make a second fashion show appearance at Eyebeam Studios, which will also feature a performance by VV Brown. {Fashionista}

While you’re looking at the pretty faces, we’re sure Express execs are hoping that the model behavior gives a kick to investor confidence. A former division of Limited Brands, the company that owns Victoria’s Secret and Bath and Body Works, the now independent company had it’s IPO yesterday, but shares didn’t perform as well as expected. {Columbus Dispatch}

CEO Michael Weiss, who led the brand from soon after its founding to 2004, was around to see the impact of the Victoria’s Secret angels. The new focus on more recognizable fashion models certainly can’t hurt the company’s efforts to capture a bit of that marketing magic.
