The British Fashion Council celebrated its 25th anniversary with the bi-annual London Fashion Week and the week’s notable highlight was Matthew Williamson’s highly anticipated comeback.

Matthew Williamson demonstrated loyalty to the motherland by showing in London after five years at NY Fashion Week. Williamson’s Ibiza-inspired couture showcase dazzled attendees and his celebrity fanbase with an anything-but-dull collection of fluorescents, sequins, beaded metals, and impracticality; but when has Fashion Week ever been about functionality…and that’s why we love it.

It was all about color, color, and more color. Bold fuschia, iridescent metals, olive, pebble, and several versions of the color wheel made their presence known. Pieces tended to be tighter, shapely, and sleeker than his previous collections. He still rocked the floaty maxis, but sheerness was emphasized more than ever.  However, wearability was not foregone with gorgeous print dresses and even a little black dress with crystal cuffs.

The British designer revived LFW with his collection and revived our hopes for a brighter, more colorful 2010.
