No giant leaps, but H&M is finally making the move to e-commerce. Unfortunately it’s only for the UK so far, though we can hope that it’s an indication of things to come for the US. Already selling online to customers in Scandinavia, the Netherlands and Germany, the global retailer heavily promotes its designer collaborations online in other markets, but doesn’t offer online purchasing. Analysts think the new UK shopping site may be in reaction to a sales decline last month, as well as e-commerce plans by rival chain Zara. So while you won’t be able to click to avoid the long lines for the Jimmy Choo or Sonia Rykiel collections, here’s hoping that a US online store isn’t far behind.
