Maybe We Aren’t Ready for Wi-fi in the Sky

In a story that certainly wouldn’t encourage those with a fear of flying, the latest information in the case of the Northwest Airlines pilots who overshot a Minneapolis landing by 150 miles suggests that the pilots were distracted by laptops – not sleep.

Northwest-AirplaneWhile the pilots were working on crew schedules, they missed communications from air traffic control including radio contacts and text messages, and lost focus on cockpit instruments.

With more airlines moving to introduce in-flight wi-fi, we’d formally like to suggest limiting coverage to the cabin only.
