MethodologyDigital influence is more than pageviews and visitors: it's what the people who see the pages and visit a site do after that. When people blog about a story they've read for their own audience, or share a photo they loved across social networks, the influence of a site expands. The Style99 ranks the online influence of fashion and beauty blogs using link data from Google and Majestic SEO for web links, and the Facebook and Twitter APIs for social data. The total score is weighted towards quality of engagement, rather than top level numbers. Social data is based on domain and content sharing activity on various networks, not follower or fan counts. Sites which do not have an official presence on Facebook or Twitter often have measurable levels of activity on those networks even if they do not actively participate on them. Style99 Blog CategoriesBlog categories represented across the top 99, and in the full index of 11,000 blogs. Many blogs have content that overlaps into multiple categories. We assign up to two based on the most frequently represented content. Who's Included?There are a number of websites with related content - think Loobook.nu or Chictopia. While we think they're great sites, this ranking is focused solely on blogs and websites where fashion or beauty blog posts by an identifiable author or authors are responsible for a significant portion of the content. Forums, voting and other sites where content is largely community generated are not included. Blogs which are part of larger sites are measured solely on engagement around blog content, rather than for the site as a whole.
